Owyhee River Flows

by Jerry
(Caldwell, Idaho)

I have been watching the flows for the Owyhee River and see they are down to 4,150 now which is way down from the over 10,000 earlier last month. Does anyone know how much longer are they going to be high?

I love fishing this river. Last time the flows were over 10,000 the river changed quite a bit. Many of my favorite fishing spots were washed out and changed. It flushed all of the moss out, and took many of the great hatches with it (temporaily, anyway).

Can't wait to hit the river and catch some 20" or greater browns. My target flow is 1,000 or lower......is that low enough to be good?

Thanks, Jerry

Where is all this water coming from?
by: Jeff

Earilier in the week I was excited about hitting the Owyhee. The flows were around 800 and now it is clear back up to 3,170. Can't catch a break. The good news is the weather is suppose to suck this weekend, so probably couldn't go any way.

It is raining cats and dogs in Boise right now. When will we catch a break?

Owyhee Flows getting better
by: Dan

Jerry,

Like you I have been watching the flows on the Owyhee. They are at 1240 currently and dropping. The river is about double normal height and dropping. I know people have been fishing there and I am about ready to join them. I am sure the water looks way different, just like last time. I found Crappie 15' above the water level on the banks after the last major water issue 4 or 5 years ago. The area smelled pretty bad!

Keep your lines tight! Now start praying for good weather.
